14" Lilac Coolie Lamp Shade — Cotton, Pendant Fitting

A coolie lamp shade has a wide conical profile — narrow at the top and wide at the base — that casts a broad pool of light downward and outward, making it a practical choice for reading lamps, table lamps and floor lamps where good light spread across the room is wanted. The name comes from the Asian conical hat the profile resembles.

This 14 inch version in lilac cotton is suited to medium-sized lamp bases — a general guide is to choose a shade roughly twice as wide as the widest point of the base. The cotton fabric diffuses the light softly. The pendant fitting (also called a gimbal or duplex fitting) attaches to the lamp's bulb holder or harp.
