Polished Brass Doctor Door Knocker — 153mm x 51mm (6" x 2")

The Doctor door knocker — sometimes called a lion's head or classical knocker — is one of the most traditional and widely recognised door knocker styles. It features a decorative backplate with a hinged ring or bar that is lifted and dropped against the plate to knock. The name 'Doctor' relates to its traditional association with substantial Victorian and Edwardian front doors.

This version is 153mm x 51mm (6 inches x 2 inches) in a polished brass finish — the classic choice for traditional, period and Georgian-style properties. Suitable for solid timber front doors and door surrounds. Fix through the door with the supplied bolts and back nut. The polished brass finish will gradually mellow and develop a patina over time, or can be maintained with brass polish.
