Brass radiator bleed key for venting trapped air from central heating radiators to restore even heat distribution.
Meter Box Key Universal - 4 Way
Previous
A radiator bleed key is a small tool used to open the bleed valve on the side of a radiator panel to release trapped air from the central heating system. When air gets into the system it collects at the top of the radiator and prevents hot water from circulating properly, leaving the radiator cold at the top even when the system is running.
To use: turn the heating off and let the system cool slightly, place the key over the bleed valve (usually at the top side of the radiator), turn anti-clockwise slowly until you hear air hissing out, hold a cloth beneath the valve and close it as soon as water appears. Bleed all affected radiators from the ground floor upwards. A simple annual bleed of all radiators helps maintain efficient heating.
