1 1/2" x 3/4" Overflow Boss

An overflow boss is a plumbing fitting that lets you add an overflow connection into an existing waste pipe without replacing the full pipe run. This 1½ inch x ¾ inch boss is used when the overflow outlet from a basin, sink, bath or appliance needs to connect into a 1½ inch (approximately 40mm) waste pipe — the standard size for basin and bath waste runs.

To fit it, cut a hole in the side of the waste pipe at the correct position, push the boss through and secure it. The ¾ inch (approximately 19mm) spigot then accepts the overflow pipe. This is particularly useful for repairs and alterations where adding overflow capacity to an existing layout is needed without disturbing the whole waste run.
