A versatile and safe cleaner for a variety of cleaning tasks

Borax Substitute is part of the ‘Clean and Natural’ range. The EU has reclassified the ‘Borate’ group of chemicals that Borax belongs to, so it is no longer available as a cleaning and laundry product. However, Dri-Pak has a solution to keep all you loyal Borax fans happy. It still has all the same cleaning and laundry uses, but you get even more for your money!

Borax Substitute is sodium sesquicarbonate – a mineral compound, with similar pH to borax, making it ideal for cleaning and laundry. It is gentler than Soda Crystals yet stronger than Bicarbonate of Soda.

Using Borax Substitute around the house

Use Borax Substitute as a:

  • Multi-purpose cleaner – Mix it with some water to form a paste. This makes it an excellent scouring agent that offers more cleaning power than Bicarbonate of Soda.
  • A water softener to help keep your washing machine clear of limescale.
  • To make your own bath salts, simply add some perfume and a drop of food colouring to some Borax Substitute.

Directions for use:

Sprinkle Borax Substitute onto surfaces and wipe down with a damp cloth or make a solution of two tablespoons of Borax Substitute in a litre of hot water. Use to wipe down surfaces and remove stains in kitchens and bathrooms.
To remove stubborn stain, make a paste of Borax Substitute and apply directly to the stain. Leave for a few minutes and then wipe off.
To make a gentle scouring paste, mix equal quantities of Borax Substitute, Bicarbonate of Soda and Cooking salt, then add water to make a paste. Simply apply to surface of equipment and then wipe clean.

Borax Substitute can be used to remove stains and soften hard water.
Pre-soak: Add approximately one third of a packet of Borax Substitute t o a bucket of hot water. Add clothes and leave to soak. Wash as normal after soaking. For difficult stains, make a paste of Borax Substitute with water and apply directly to the stain. Allow to stand and then wash as normal.
