How do I reset the lock? We are not able to unlock it
If you can’t currently open the Abus Key Garage Mini With Shackle, you unfortunately cannot reset the code yet – Abus key garages can only be re-coded when they’re already open.
To regain access, try this sequence (assuming it’s just mis‑set rather than broken):
- Make sure all dials are fully on a number (no half‑clicks between digits).
- Try any codes it might reasonably be (common ones are family birth years, 0000, 1234, 2580 etc., or what the previous user might have chosen).
- Press/pull the release firmly while slowly rocking each dial one digit at a time – sometimes one wheel is slightly off the correct position.
If that still doesn’t open it, the internal mechanism is either on an unknown code or damaged. In that case you realistically have two options:
- Contact Abus or a local locksmith to see if they can non‑destructively open it (they may ask for proof you own it).
- Force it open and replace it with a new unit – once forced, it shouldn’t be reused for security.
Once you do get it open, there will be a small reset/change lever or slider inside (you move that, set the new 4‑digit code on the dials, then return the lever and close). But that step is only possible after it’s open.
